Kano Based Journalist Nearly Shot_Dead in His Office By Cruel Police




Kano based, one of the leading FM stations in northern Nigeria Premier Radio 102.7Fm  has condemned the brutal attack on its staff, Muhammad Bello Dabai in his office by police who feared to be ashamed when a suspect they took to the hospital for treatment almost escaped from the medication spot at Nassarawa hospital just nearby the Fm station.

The pitty incident occurred around 3.30 pm monday 19/12/2022 when  Muhammad Bello Dabai ''Premier radio's head of new media'' came to excercise his constitutional work of witnessing the event with gadgets.

While concentrated on his work of taking the account, a bunch of  baffled police men brutally attacked him depriving  him of his right as it contained in Nigerian constitution, despite his attempt to explain and identify himself.

Daily reliable gathered, the Premier radio staff  was brutally forced in to the police vehicle after which he was mercilessly beaten and detained for hours before his  release is secured by his office.

A statement signed by the head news and reports of  Premier radio Mukhtar Yahaya said '' The recalcitrant police officers were however non-repentant and unapologetic when a delegation from the station arrived at the police command in kano.

''We hereby demand a verifiable action on these unrepentant and brutal officers, including an unconditional public apology without which we reserve the right to seek for redress''.

Many human right organizations have started taking stand on the matter as they called on the authorities and stakeholders to take immediate action on it.

Journalists in Nigeria have faced uncountable attacks by police while on their duties of information gathering and dessimination, a situation that makes working relation between the two parties to be sour.
