SMEDAN trained Many youths on how to become Independent.

 

The small and medium enterprises development agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) has  began the training of 90 youths in four entrepreneurship skills in Birnin Kebbi, Monday 1 8 2022 in Kebbi state.

The training is being conducted on the National Business Skills Development Initiative (NBSDI) with beneficiaries strained from the 21 local government areas of the state.

Fatima Shuaibu, who represented Director-General of SMEDAN, Mr Olawale Fasanya, at the inauguration of the training, said beneficiaries would be trained in furniture making, tailoring,cell phone repairs and welding.

Fatima said the training would increase artisanal businesses and provide entrepreneurship and vocational skills acquisition and empowerment among youths as well as improving their engagement in productive ventures, by making sure that they earn income through filling the artisanal slit across Birnin Kebbi local government.

The scheme was premeditated to guarantee that more specialized services were provided by local and well-trained young artisans thereby lessening over dependence on foreign communities as most of the out-of-school youths, who still rely on stipends from parents, are empowered to become independent.

Mrs Shuaibu said the training also hinged on improved business management practices and service provision by trained youths.

SMEDAN’s Manager in Kebbi, Abdulkadir Ibrahim, expressed the hope that the exercise would inspire participants on how to become independent.

Ibrahim justified SMEDAN’s obligation to ensure the development of MSMEs in the area of job and wealth creation apart from poverty mitigation.

It increased access to finance, equipment and other business resources and formalized artisanal businesses.

The course was implemented in 36 states in Nigeria  with 3,330 entrepreneurs, 90 from each state enrolled and anticipated to be trained empowered with materials to sustain them.
