Family Planning and Fertility Knowledge are so Vital to Sustenance of Environmental Development -FMH


The Federal Ministry of Health, says family planning and fertility knowledge are so vital  to sustaining of environment development.

Ministry’s Director, Family Health Services, Dr Salma Ibrahim-Anas, said lack of family planning and pitiable access to fertility education immensely compounded insecurity in parts of the country..

The director said that proper planning and spacing of children would enable parents instill morals, provide quality education, nutrition, as well as improve chances of survival and reduce illnesses and burden on health facilities.

” Absence of family planning among spouses is a sole  contributor to insecurity, simply because the use is to give gap in the number  of off-springs one can cater for, in terms of nutrition and moral upbringing’’.

“If you have so many you might not be able to carter for them. So this is where family planning comes in to regulate fertility.

According to Dr Salma, a nation can only thrive with well educated and brilliant children”.

She also said the ministry would continue to provide timely access to family planning and relative sexual reproductive health services by expecting much families in terms of cooperation.

In his remarks the country Director, Marie Stopes International organization Nigeria (MSION) said the program would last for a period of three years, adding that, a year was prolonged in order to uphold the successes so far recorded particularly in four states of the North which include Jigawa, Bauchi,Sokoto, Adamawa and Borno among others.
