The Federal government of Nigeria has
today Sunday handed-over the project of constructing Nguru/Gashua / Baymari 55
kilometer road to the government of Yobe state.
The road which serves as linkage to the neighboring
Jigawa state was inaugurated by Nigeria’s president Muhammad Buhari, as
represented by the Minister of Power, Abubakar Aliyu.
In his message Abubakar said
the Federal government was committed to humanizing road and rail network as
well as economic augmentation throughout the country.
He said this would tremendously help the farmers in the involved
states to easily move their cash crops to desired destinations, apart from the
road advantage to traders who move around to different markets located in the
axis, asking the potential road users to remain lawful while driving.
During the inauguration, Minister of
Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, said his ministry had commenced the
first of the second phase of project completion and handovers across Nigeria.
Speaking, the Yobe state governor Mai Mala Buni said the project would add to the pedigree of successes
achieved by the people of his state and other neighboring communities as it
would relief a lot of hardship caused previously by the dilapidated road for
long, stressing that it would open international businesss opportunities for
people living in the North-Eastern part of the country and by extension the
nation at large, there users should make prudent and careful use of the road.
Gov. Buni also commended the Federal
government for its efforts in resolving security dilemma bedeviling parts of
the country, especially the jolted North-East.
