Zamfara state Gov. Bello Matawalle has signed a new anti-banditry and other anti-human offences bill into law with immediate effect.
Gov. Matawalle said the law fashioned fraction of procedures to undertake banditry, kidnapping and cattle rustling.
In the there are provisions of Punishment for Banditry, Cattle Rustling, Cultism, Kidnapping and Other minor Offences, passed by the state legislature this week.
Matawalle said establishing this law was one the numerous commitments of administration to address the lingering insecurity bedeviling parts of Zamfara state which is always taking another dimension, claiming lives and displacing persons.
The bill was
specifically signed in to law this Monday after the state assembly read its
content and realize how the bill would assist in fighting the activities of gun
men and scores of other criminals who try jolt peace and harmony in Zamfara
state.
During the events the Gov. also inaugurates security committees
saddled with the responsibilities of fixing the process of implementing measures
of fighting security challenges.
Recall that Gov. Matawalle had initially endorsed 4 orders which will control the activities of the committees with priority to security of lives and properties of Zamfara people.
He called on the people to consider his recent acknowledgement of community members to possess weapons to protect themselves as the situation escalate to get out of control following an increased complaints by citizens across the state.
