WORLD BANK TO BUILD ISOLATION CENTER IN LAGOS

 

The World Bank has given a consent to the Nigeria Center for Diseases Control (NCDC) to build a center in the Lagos University Teaching Hospital.

Plans in the NCDC are concluded to collaborate with the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) in the areas of health emergencies and COVID-19 response, said Dr Ifedayo Adetifa, Director-General, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

He said the cordial relationship between his Agency and the Lagos University Teaching Hospital LUTH is a continued one, especially at the time of dire need of emergency approach to some important health issues in the state.

During his visit to the Hospital yesterday Dr Ifedayo said in the tradition of the Agency there is a very heavy dependence on collaboration with important and relevant  institutions that are capable of assisting them in detecting emergency cases as well as the ways through which they could be taken care of in Nigeria.

Dr Adetifa confirmed the World Bank’s approval to the Agency to erect a three-storey tower in the University.

On his part the Hospital’s Chief Medical Director Prof. Chris Bode, said the project is expected to enclose about 40 beds which will soon be completed and be used as an isolation Center for Covid-19 patients.
