The Niger State Government has acknowledged
Thursday 30 and Friday 1st of July to be holidays to allow Civil
servants attain their Permanent Voter Cards PVC.
According to the state’s Commissioner for Information, Dr Emmanuel Musa, this has become advantageous to allow the workers performance of their civic duties as citizens..
He warned that the Civil servants should endeavor not relax and miss this golden opportunity as their voters cards serve many purposes, from voting of their choice during next year’s general elections to some national and personal duties.
While addressing newsmen shortly after
the state’s weekly Executive Council Meeting held at Government House Minna,
the state’s capital, Wednesday, Musa said Niger State believes in the
importance of workers in the democratic process, and the existence of worker-friendly
government using votes., confirming that Thursday and Friday have been
declared work-free days in all government offices across Niger state, to enable
all public and civil servants exercise their constitutional rights.
The commissioner said, on security government in conjunction with security
agencies, took tangible actions to counter possible security challenges that
may come up, saying traditional and religious leaders have a role to play in
making the program a success.
