UBEC SPENT N533.7BILLION IN 36 STATES OF THE NATION TO IMPROVE EDUCATION

 

About N533.7billion has distributed to the 36 States of Nigeria  between the year 2005 and 2021 by the Universal Basic Education Commission UBEC to improve basic education nation-wide.

Recall that the sum of N110 billion were remitted to the states early on as an intervention which generated a lot of heat that the money have not been put to use by the states, a situation that drew the attention of the commission, saying as of 6^th June this year a total of over N30 billion were not useable, adding that out of Nigeria’s 36 states only 17 of them were capable of utilizing just the 4^th part last year.

A statement signed by the commission’s Head of Public Relations David Apeh said the states which have not used their grants include Imo, Ogun and Anambra in the year 2019.

The commission says it is a law of the universal basic education commission UBEC that agreed 50% to be an obligation before having admittance to the funding, thus measures have been deployed to condense the height of un-accessed funds through stakeholders’ commitment and  translucent supervision of the funds, said Dr Hamid Bobboyi, the Executive Secretary of the commission in Abuja.
