NORTH EAST DEVELOPMENT COMM. DONATE TO THE IDP'S IN BORNO

 


North East Development Commission in Nigeria (NEDC) has given a donation of  mixed food and other   items to the authorities of Borno government to have smooth  realization of rehabilitation and resettlement of displaced persons.

The said gesture comprised of 10,000 bags of 25kg rice, , 10,000 bags of Corn, 4,000 cartons of pasta, 5,000 blankets and 5,000 mats, 4,000 gallons of vegetable oil.

Presenting the donation to the state officials in Maiduguri, NEDC’s Managing Director, Muhammad Alkali said the nod is to help fast-track the resettlement program and provide for rescued Boko-Haram victims.

Alkali said the donated goods were sourced from home-grown companies in accordance with the Commission’s authorization in assisting the weak industries brought down by high level of the insurgency in the state.

Director-General of, Borno State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Yabawa Kolo lauded the Commission for its support to the rehabilitation and resettlement program in the North East generally, saying governor Babagana Zulum’s administration is really committed to the predicament of people displaced persons  in the region.

She said  SEMA and other relevant agencies of the state, especially Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development are also concerned about the trauma of those living in Internally Displaced Persons’ Camps.
