The constitutional amendment process of
moving basic education from chapter two of the Nigerian Constitution to
chapter four of rights of the citizens by the Nigerian national assembly has
been completed, as announced by the House.
Leader of the House committe on basic and secondary education
and Services, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere said, during an event is organized by the
Nigerian educational research and development (NERDC) in partnership with Plan
International and Save the Children and the European union today in FCT.
He said this program is expected
to take control of educational resources and execution of plans, as well as
bringing an end to the menace of out of school children in Nigeria which has long
overstayed.
Educational problems, school drop outs
have been an issue in Nigeria for so many years which some educational experts
attribute to poor leadership.
