In a statement issued by its Chairman Prof. Biodun Olaniran today Friday the union come out to distance itself from the memo allegedly issued by the university’s Registrar, Dr Kayode Ogunleye.
It reads “Our union is in receipt of the memo from the university Registrar calling for resumption of academic activities for the first semester of the 2021/2022 academic session on Thursday May 26, 2022, this is against the principle of our union and we wish to inform the general public that our branch is actively participating and in full support of the national struggle,” the statement added.
Prof. Biodun Olaniran urged parents, guardians, students and general public to note that their members are not in a position to conduct any academic activities, stating that the lecturers would not go back to class pending directive from the national body.
The union stated that it is fully on strike and asked parents to discountenance the memo and keep their children at home. It then stressed that the strike is not beleaguered at anybody but to lend a hand in moving the public universities.
